This Range has, obviously expanded, from the
Initial limited range of Manufacturer's - Peco - who because of
our depth of operational knowledge of Railways, encouraged us so
much, Keysers, W & H, Wills, Ratio and of course, Hornby.
HORNBY: themselves have developed, in the last few
years, expanding & improving greatly the quality, finish
and detail, of their Range of - Locomotives, Coaches & Wagons of
the GWR, LMS, LNER, BR(WR), BR(LMR), BR(MR), BR(SR), BR(Std), BR

introduction the Hornby 'Skaledale' & 'Lyddle End' range of
beautifully finished, Ready to Install, collection of Railway
Buildings & Structures,, Canal Features, Buildings & Houses.
Hornby have introduced this year their DCC
range of Equipment & associated Chips, this has been very well
received and the logic is very easily absorbed. Many Hornby
Locomotives are already 'DCC Ready' and some with 'DCC' Fitted,
BACHMANN : The introduction of Bachmann to the UK Model
Railway market, added a range of well developed and accurate
models to the British Railway Modelling scene. From the initial
introduction, the range of Locomotives & Rolling Stock has
expanded considerably with a very good selection of new models,
which, like Hornby, have filled gaps in the market, especially
with Locomotives from the 'old' Railways Companies through to
the Modern Diesel era.
Companies covered by this range is extensive, has or does,
include Locomotive, Passenger & Goods stock used by :GWR, LMS,
LNER, BR(WR), BR(LMR), BR(MR), BR(SR), BR(Std), BR Diesel &
Electric, BR Regional Railways, along with the Privatised

A notable introduction by Bachmann was their very detailed range
of BR Mk1 - BR Mk3 Passenger Stock, through from the BR(WR),
BR(LMR), BR(MR), BR(SR), BR Diesel & Electric Era and now into
the Train Operating Companies (TOC) days. These models,
particularly those BR Regional & Early BR Blue/Grey
period, have been, and still are extremely popular.
DCC - Bachmann have ensured that the
development of DCC will be encouraged with the Introduction of
their first Sets , again these have been well received and are a
good introduction to this method of Railway Control. Many
Bachmann Locomotives are already fitted as 'DCC Ready' or 'DCC
Fitted'.

BACHMANN - Graham Farish, Grafar, 'N' Gauge.
Some time ago Bachmann decided to enter the
'N' Gauge Market, the only producer in the UK was Graham Farish,
who at the time, were producing a limited range of products, of
a quality well below that of the the UK Standard on Gauge 'OO'.
Bachmann felt that, with their production knowledge, they would
be able to bring skills to the range that would upgrade, greatly
,the quality of 'N' Gauge British outline models.
The transfer to Bachmann took place and a
re-design of much of the Locomotive Range was undertaken.
Towards the end of 2004 the first results of
this enterprise began to show, resulting in a very marked
improvement, both in Finish Quality and Performance. To
the relief of 'N' Gauge Modellers this has continued and a wide
range of Products is now available.
PECO -
The introduction of Peco 'Streamline' Gauge '00' changed the
whole outlook of Railway Modelling in the UK. For the
first time there was now a high quality Nickel Track with an
open web base of detailed sleepers - showing wood grain, chairs,
bolts etc.
Two ranges were really introduced - the first being rigid track
- known as 'SetRack' and one yard lengths of 'Flexible Track',
which could be cut and curved to any operational radius
required, this immediately was taken up by Modeller's - no
longer were they committed to Fixed Radii but the layout could
be made to fit the space available, be it Large or Small.
'Setrack', in terms of rigidity, length and
radii ,followed the long established measurements of Rovex
(later Hornby/Rovex) and finally the 'Hornby' we know to-day.
